Cover: in this undated pen-and-ink sketch, Robert Harris caricatures three prominent gentlemen of the legal profession, (left to right) Walter A.O. Morson, Malcolm McLeod, and Edward Jarvis Hodgson. Mcleod figures prominently in "Presents...numerous and costly" in this issue. Hodgson, one of the Island's most respected attorneys, suffered a breakdown in the early 1880's. He became convinced that he was, in fact, dead. One Harris family story has Hodgson visiting his wife to offer condolences on his own death. Fortunately for Hodgson, he recovered his health and went on to become a judge of the province's Supreme Court and Master of the Rolls.
