Much of the Canadian successes lay with General Arthur Currie, leader of the Canadian Corps, as the Canadian troops defeated the Germans in a succession of battles in the First World War.This program tells the story of the searing battle of Passchendaele and profiles one of the countless men overcome by shell-shock. It also looks at the outstanding service of the Canadian Nursing Sisters. The video closes with the massive offensive launched in the spring of 1918, when Germany felt victory was within reach.

High School and up.
